::home:: i didn't forget

about this...

it's just hard to get a decent picture in our house.

i used the fabrics to make 'curtains' for our 'patio' sliding door.

translation: i cut the fabric and knotted the pieces together.
the end.

::home:: it happened last night

every small milestone is a victory now.

{and he said it was only worth five hundred bucks!!!}

::home:: fun with the boys (and their parents)

What a great weekend. Ryan, Camie, Colton, Carter, and Spencer came down a spent the weekend with us. They got in Friday night and we broke out the light-sabers right away.

Jedi in their new V-day robes

We hit the trail early on Saturday and did some Geo-caching before visiting the "dead animal museum" also known as the Rosenbaugh Wildlife Museum. We had fun looking for bears and cougars among the stuffed wildlife. Seemed very fitting that the gun show was going on next door.

finding treasure

The boys kept us all entertained with their quotes and antics. The funniest thing was to watch them chase the remote controll car while Ryan and I drove it. I can't believe how much energy they have.

in hot pursuit

They left Sunday afternoon and Alison and I both napped for over an hour. I don't know how Ryan and Camie can keep up.

Thanks for coming guys. We love you guys and miss you already. We can't wait for the weather to get a little nicer and go camping.

postcard:: i {heart} him.

get it? it's a heart?

EARTH HOUR is coming up again! Have you heard of it? This is the third year they're doing it, and it's an amazing movement to fight global warming by turning off the lights for one hour on March 28th. It's making a huge statement about how one person CAN make a difference. We just have to unite.
This year they have 377 countries committed, which is already twice as many as last year. It started in Sydney as a grassroots movement. Last year, landmarks like Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, Empire State Building, the Sydney Opera House and the Coliseum in Rome all turned out their lights, just to name a few... Even if you don't believe in global warming, this is a totally cool thing to be a part of, just for the conservation aspect! Last year, over 50 million turned out their lights!
This year, Las Vegas (!!!!) has joined and pledged to shut off lights on the strip. Other participating cities are Atlanta, Chicago, LA, Miami and Nashville, Moscow, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Shanghai, and Mexico City. Paris will even be turning off lights on the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame! So....if you want to participate (and really, why not?) - Earth Hour is March 28th from 8:30-9:30 pm, your local time. {{A great excuse for a romantic candlelight dinner?}}
You can sign up here (it requires nothing - it's just a way to track how many millions are participating) - it's totally easy. So peruse their website, watch this video, download this cool poster and spread the word. Make up your own email and send it around or post on your blog, but just REMEMBER:

March 28th at 8:30 pm
Be dark... you'll have a lark.

happy valentines day :: not-so-sweet

THESE WERE ENTRIES TO A WASHINGTON POST COMPETITION ASKING FOR A TWO-LINE RHYME WITH THE MOST ROMANTIC FIRST LINE, BUT THE LEAST ROMANTIC SECOND LINE:

My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife:
Marrying you screwed up my life.
_______________
I see your face when I am dreaming.
That's why I always wake up screaming.
______________
Kind, intelligent, loving and hot;
This describes everything you are not.

Love may be beautiful, love may be bliss,
But I only slept with you 'cause I was pissed.
_________________
I thought that I could love no other --
that is until I met your brother.

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so Are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty, and so is your head.
____________________
My love, you take my breath away.
hat have you stepped in to smell this way?
______________________
My feelings for you no words can tell,
Except for maybe 'Go to hell.'
_______________
What inspired this amorous rhyme?
Two parts vodka, one part lime.

Well, here's the first one of these.
We did some furniture moving-around a few weeks ago and put the desk in our bedroom, but it was a little too bright for the color scheme in there. So, since I do love the paint, I painted it last weekend to match our dresser. See the before here. You can't really tell from this photo, but it's got some antiquing stain on it, and is very quiet and blends in with the rest of the room. I love it!
The best part is the two outside drawer pulls. Soeur got me some little birdies for my birthday last year, and I've been trying to figure out the perfect place. Now they're home!

oh, and if you recognize some of the books on the desk...hee hee...they're probably yours. i've got two stacks of "books to return". i'm totally going to get right on that!

::challenge:: 64 ounces a day

we decided at the beginning of the year that together we (moi & ma soeur) would work on a common goal every month. so what if your resolution drops by the wayside after two weeks? with our plan, there's a new beginning no more than 30 days away! last month was a {secret} but the goal for february is:

drink the recommended 8 cups of water per day

i started yesterday. i thought this would be easy: we don't keep soda or anything in the house and i always order water at restaurants. but it's pretty hard to empty those nalgenes. watch my progress (or lack) on the sidebar and wish us luck!

if you'd like to join in, be our guest. so far, it's me and sis, and i think husband is going to try it out, too.

find photo here

::wandering:: did i mention...?

that the 3 of us
(gramma faye, me, and ma mere, pictured here at the Sacajawea statue in WY)
will all be traveling to visit ma soeur in MAY?
i'm just a little excited.
